Tawanda - Smile (CD)

Tawanda is a wonderful young vocalist I saw perform at a small club last year. At the time she struck me as sounding like Nancy Wilson; I suggested she record an album of Nancy Wilson covers, or even play her in a bio-pic. With this album she evokes Dianne Reeves whom she lists as an inspiration. Live, she is comfortable in a wide vocal range, and can handle the scat solos elegantly. I believe she is based in New Mexico, but fortunately for me makes frequent visits to the L.A. area.
