Amanda Shires has flown under the radar for most of her career, whether as a member of the Thrift Store Cowboys or as a side player for such diverse acts as Billy Joe Shaver, Jason Isbell and DeVotchKa. But in 2011, riding the momentum of a remarkable release, the aptly titled Carrying Lightning, Shires took flight, establishing herself as a singular and compelling voice in Americana music.
