Official Electric Lounge merchandise direct from the club's former co-owners! Printed on 100% cotton Gildan shirts with the Jason Austin designed logo on the front and 709 Austin, TX on the back.

Opened  in 1993 by Austin filmmaker Mark Shuman and architect Jay Hughey – later joined by poet / musician Mike Henry –  the Electric Lounge became a downtown home for fans of independent cutting-edge art and music, bringing a vibe more akin to a New York City nightclub / live music venue to the ‘90’s Austin scene.

The award-winning club’s programming focused on a bold and diverse calendar overflowing with underground music, film screenings, independent theatre, poetry slams, and visual art exhibitions.

Austin artists that frequented the Lounge stage under the glow of its notorious red neon “Electric” sign included Spoon, Fastball, The Gourds, The Damnations, Daniel Johnston, Alejandro Escovedo, Sixteen Deluxe, Sincola, Asylum Street Spankers, Hickoids, The Horsies and Hamell On Trial.

The Lounge also became a prime destination for touring artists such as Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Morphine, Jeff Buckley, Neutral Milk Hotel, Elliot Smith, Lucinda Williams, Spiritualized, Sleater-Kinney, Mix Master Mike, Cake, Jonathan Richman, Nashville Pussy, Link Wray and the Melvins.

Though the venue closed in 1999 the Electric Lounge legacy continues as the former co-owners have hosted two sold out reunion shows at ACL Live, as well as curating a new Electric Lounge Presents series which kicked off with two packed performances by Vapors of Morphine at the Continental Club ATX.
