Billy Bragg and Wilco release this second collection of songs to follow up their critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated collaboration Mermaid Avenue which was released in 1998, and has sold over 350,000 to date.  That record landed on dozens of critics year's best lists including People, Rolling Stone, SPIN, The New York Times, Village Voice, LA Times, Request, Philadelphia Weekly, Amazon.com, and MOJO(UK).

Like it's predecessor, Mermaid Avenue 2 joins Billy Bragg and Wilco in a unique project -- working with the previously unheard lyrics of Woody Guthrie, set to newly composed music.  In conjunction with the Woody Guthrie archives in New York, Bragg and Wilco present yet another side of Woody as this collaboration heads in new and ever-more revealing directions.

The second album also contains contributions from Natalie Merchant and Corey Harris with Nora Guthrie acting as the executive producer.

Billy Bragg and Wilco will tour together beginning in the fall of 2000.
