A highly anticipated 7" release from a rising SSW championing "post-bossa nova," featuring Mei Semones! This 7" features a compelling pairing of two standout tracks that captivate with an organic sound infused with elements of bossa nova and jazz! John Roseboro is a Brooklyn-based Haitian-American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Rooted in Brazilian music and incorporating indie folk and jazz, he champions "post-bossa nova" and delivers a gentle, soft sound. These two tracks are from his 2024 album Fools. The A-side, "80 Summers," is a song about love and a woman's intuition, themed around the 80 summers one experiences in a lifetime. Trumpet and saxophone layers blend with a lighthearted samba/bossa nova rhythm, and Mei Semones contributes backing vocals. The B-side, "Johnny," is a collaborative duet with Mei Semones. It's a memorable track featuring lyrics about staying by someone's side and offering constant support, complemented by the pair's intimate harmonies.
